With less than 2 weeks to the general elections, some leaders of the Labour Party (LP) in the Southwest region have decamped to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Omotoso Banji, LP Leader in the Southwest, who led other leaders to join the APC, described the LP as a shaky platform. He predicted that the party’s presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, would not score up to 1000 votes in the region.

Other leaders of LP that defected along with Omotoso were the party’s chairman in Osun State, Tunde Omotunde and his Ekiti State counterpart, Alabi Adeeyo, Ondo LP Secretary, Omowumi Olosola and Stella Alabi from the Lagos State chapter.

Omotoso said leaders of Southwest LP decided to quit the party because it was not viable and lacked the clout to win the forthcoming election.

Receiving the defectors, the National Coordinator of SWAGA 2023, Dayo Adeyeye charged all the new members and others APC members across the region to go back to their various polling units and canvass votes for Tinubu.
