48 hours prior to the start of the general elections in Nigeria, Ekpa was arrested on Thursday.
Finland had been urged by Nigeria to get involved in Ekpa’s efforts. Godfrey Onyeama, the minister of foreign affairs, invited Leena Pylvänäinen, the ambassador of Finland, to a meeting last week.
