On Wednesday morning, tragedy struck in the city of Ilorin, Kwara State, when a mobile police officer fatally shot a woman who has not yet been recognized and then shot himself.
The bizarre incidence happened in the Ilorin city’s Chapel Redemption, UMCA, Agba Dam neighborhood.
Unconfirmed reports stated that the police officer’s actions were motivated by a dispute about the parentage of a kid born to their connection.
Before the event, the Olalere Micheal, a mobile police officer, was a part of Ilorin’s Government House.
It was gathered the deceased policeman had arrived at the station, signed for his weapon, and then left for the woman’s location.
Reports said on reaching the location, he allegedly shot the woman dead and then turned the gun on himself and committed suicide.
The tragic incident turned the state police command into confusion as it became a major topic among officers and men.
When contacted, the spokesman of the state police command, SP Okasanmi Ajayi, informed DAILY POST that an investigation has been launched into the incident to ascertain what went wrong.
He said the police command would issue a statement on the matter after a police investigation.
