2023 Census: Present Yourselves For Headcount – Governor Adeleke Urges Osun Residents

TheGovernorofOsun, Senator Ademola Adeleke has called on residents of the state to support the National population Commission (NPC) by presenting themselves for headcount when the exercise begins.

The Governor made the call during the official inauguration of an advocacy committee set up on the exercise held in Osogbo.

The Governor who was represented by his deputy Prince Kola Adewusi, highlighted the numerous advantages of population census, noting that it will pave way for national planning and development.

Senator Adeleke further enjoined Osun residents to participate fully in the exercise so as to avail the State of the benefits that can be derived from the housing and population census.

He used the occasion to Implore the NPC to maximize the advantage of the Bank verification Number(BVN) and build on it to ensure easy capturing of figures and data.

In his speech the Federal Commissioner NPC, Senator Mudasiru Hussein expressed the readiness of the commission to embark on a digital census that will be accurate, precise and beneficial to all.

Also speaking, the Director of NPC in Osun State, Mr Martins Owoeye said that efforts have been made to make the 2023 population and housing census acceptable to the whole world.

In their separate goodwill messages, the Chairman, Osun Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Comrade Wasiu Ajadosu, the Director, National Orientation Agency, Mrs Kikelomo Ahmed and the representative of National council for women society all pledged to support the exercise and ensure its success.

The task of providing quality education for the school children should not be left to government alone, but should rather be a collective responsibility of all stakeholders.

The Osun State Universal Basic Education Board Executive Secretary, Mr Yahaya Bakare made this assertion while receiving a team of Non Governmental organization called Community Advancement Initiative For Self Reliance (CAI4SR) in Osogbo.

Mr Bakare eulogized the Non Governmental organization for it’s inclusive education program in government public schools.

He said the NGO’s collaborative efforts in giving support to Osun State government in it’s endeavor at providing quality education to the public school learners will go a long way in moving the state education sector forward.

The Osun SUBEB Scribe then enjoined the Organization to meticulously carry out it’s inclusive education program for the people with special needs in the mainstream schools so that the aim and objectives for which the program is designed will not be jeaoperdized.

He then called on the people in the society to emulate the good educational program of the Organization, charging all and sundry to contribute their quota towards children education in order to secure a better future for them.

In separate remarks, the leaders of the team, Mrs Eni Ayeni and Dr. Ben Oluropo, on behalf of their members,
said their visit was aimed at congratulating the Executive Secretary on his appointment, while describing his appointment as putting the right peg in the right hole.

They equally appreciated the opportunity to collaborate with the Osun SUBEB to move the state education forward, while requesting that the relationship be further strengthened for mutual benefit.

In attendance were the Officials of Social Mobilization and Special Education Department which included the Director, Mrs Oyebola Adeoye, the Deputy Director, Mrs Dunsin Oyebamiji and Mrs Babalola.
