President Bola Tinubu has suspended Godwin Emefiele as the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
The Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation announced his suspension.
This was revealed by the Director of Information, SGF office,Willie Bassey, in a statement on Friday, said the suspension is with immediate effect.

ADULAWO NEWS reports that the suspended Emefiele was directed to immediately hand over the affairs of his office to the Deputy Governor (Operations Directorate).
The CBN’s website shows Mr. Folashodun Adebisi Shonubi (Board Member) is the Deputy Governor (Operations Directorate).
Shonubi will act as the Central Bank Governor according to director of information, SGF office. He has been serving since October 17, 2018 – to date.

Shonubi holds double Masters Degree respectively in Business Administration and Mechanical Engineering, from University of Lagos.
He is a banker with over 30 years professional experience.
Prior to his appointment as Deputy Governor in the Central Bank of Nigeria, he was the Managing Director/CEO in the Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System PLC from 2012 – 2018.
