The Osun State Government has announced a free train ride for citizens of the state residing in Lagos, Ogun, and Oyo states who wish to celebrate the upcoming Eid El Kabir (Ileya Festival) in Osun State.
According to a statement released by the Honourable Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Rev. Bunmi Jenyo, the free train ride is part of the state government’s efforts to ease transportation stress and enable citizens to celebrate the festival with their families and loved ones in Osun State.
The “Imole Free Train Ride” will depart from the Iddo terminus in Lagos on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at 10am, with stopovers at designated train stations in Ogun and Oyo states to pick up passengers. The train is expected to arrive at the Osogbo train station by 6pm. The return trip from Osogbo railway terminus to Lagos will be on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at 12 noon.
This gesture by the Osun State Government is seen as a welcome development by citizens of the state who have been facing transportation challenges. “I am so excited about this news,” said Mrs. Adebayo, a citizen of Osun State living in Lagos. “I have been wanting to visit my family in Osun State for the Ileya Festival, but I was worried about the transportation cost. Thank you to the Osun State Government for this kind gesture.”
The Osun State Government has assured citizens of adequate security on board the train and encourages them to take advantage of this opportunity to visit the state and celebrate the Ileya Festival with their loved ones.
