A team of organizations which include, Ekiti Book Club, Association of Nigerian Authors, Ekiti State Chapter and Association of Tourism Practitioners of Nigeria, Ekiti Branch is set to celebrate Nigerian Nobel Laureate, Wole Soyinka as he turns Ninety on July 13th in a Grand Style.
The event which is to be hosted by a veteran journalist, former President Buhari’s Special Adviser and former Senator of the Federal Republic, Babafemi Ojudu at his The Farm residence, Ado-Ekiti, the State’s capital, is aimed at celebrating the literary icon who has contributed to the development of mankind in many ways. Soyinka is particularly noted for his struggle for a better Nigeria which he has championed on many occasions. More significantly, he is being referred to as “Eni Ogun” person of god of iron, to pinpoint his belief.
Speaking on the celebration, Ojudu opined that; “There is no better place to celebrate and honor Wole Soyinka than in Ekiti, where Ogun himself hailed from and his spirit reigns supreme.”
Also speaking on the celebration, Adesina Adetola, the President of Ekiti Book Club, one of the organizers said “Wole Soyinka is a man of many parts, but of one course which is centered on the betterment of humanity. Therefore he deserves to be celebrated by all and sundry. Whether his writings, academic posture, originality, mien, cultural advocacy, Africanism among others, everyone has an angle to celebrate him.
