The newly installed Olu of Araromi-Owu, in Ayedaade Local Government of Osun State, HRH Oba (Dr.) Olukayode Adeyemi Oremakinde, has Governor Ademola Adeleke, to ensure justice, by ordering the immediate arrest and prosecution of the Olowu of Orile-Owu, and other masterminds and perpetrators of the deadly attack on Araromi Owu community last Tuesday.
The monarch made the call while condemning the unprovoked attacks and destructions of lives and properties in his domain, as carried out by hoodlums sponsored by the Olowu of Orile-Owu; Oba Dauda Ajolola Akinfalabi and thugs allegedly hired by one Mr Sikiru Adebayo Oyege, that led to the death of one NSCDC Officer and another person while many residents sustained varying degrees of injury.
ADULAWO NEWS recall that following the demise of Oba Nathaniel Oyedeji Oyetunji, Oba (Dr) Oremakinde, whose grand father was the founder and first Olu of Araromi-Owu, was unanimously selected and installed by hundreds of residents, Chiefs and Kingmakers, as the next traditional ruler of the town, in line with the government gazetted procedure.
According to him, the unfortunate event that unfolded after his installation was avoidable, as efforts were made by the Araromi leadership, through several communications (written and verbal) and meetings with relevant authorities, including the commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs and police hierarchy, to prevent the bloody incident.
Oba Oremakinde stated further that there have been meetings between the Araromi leadership and the Olowu of Orile-Owu, to this effect; recalling that a day before the unfortunate incident, the Olowu of Orile-Owu was sternly warned by the AIG Zone 11 in a peace meeting held at the Zone 11 Police Command Osogbo, on Monday.
While urging the Osun State Government to hold the Olowu of Orile-Owu and one Mr Sikiru Adebayo Oyege responsible for the lost of lives and destructions of properties for the past few days in Araromi-Owu, Oba Oremakinde also called on his subjects and other residents of the entire Araromi community to remain calm, peaceful and also cooperate with the government and security agents, in their efforts at ensuring that peace and security return to the town.
He specifically thanked the officers NSCDC and men of Amotekun corps, who came in the nick of time to rescue his family from being killed by the hired thugs, after walking through the jungle for over three hours, while fleeing from the agents of death, allegedly sponsored by Olowu of Orile-Owu and one Mr Sikiru Adebayo Oyege.
Eye witness accounts indicate that many residents of Araromi-Owu are still in the bush for fear of being attacked as many houses, cars, shops among other property worth millions of naira have been burnt to ashes by the hoodlums, who were being led by one Saheed, on the order of Olowu of Orile-Owu and one Mr Sikiru Adebayo Oyege.
