A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Dr. Moshood Kamal Okunola (MKO), has described the attacks on his party by the Osun State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon Sunday
Bisi as vitriolic and baseless, saying it was a clear indication of the imminent failure awaiting Imole camp in the 2026 governorship election in the state.
MKO cautioned Osun PDP to face governance and not resort to blackmail to cover their failure. He described the PDP’s outburst as an acceptance of defeat in an election yet to be conducted. He stated APC as a law abiding party will always seek legal redress to address pressing political issues.
“I note with concern the vitriolic and baseless attack issued by the Osun State PDP Chairman, Hon. Sunday Bisi, in a desperate attempt to divert attention from the glaring failures of the ruling party to meet the expectations of the people of Osun State. While the PDP expends its energy on name-calling and divisive propaganda, the APC remains focused in addressing the urgent issues of governance and the well-being of the people of Osun State”
“To display the PDP’s Contradictions and Misplaced Priorities, Hon. Sunday Bisi accuses the APC of confusion and political desperation, yet it is the PDP government that has failed to demonstrate clear priorities and plans for the state. Instead of tackling the pressing issues affecting the people—such as unemployment, decaying infrastructure, and a lack of grassroots development—the PDP has chosen to engage in baseless propaganda against the opposition. This reflects a government which is more concerned with controlling the narrative than delivering results”
“Fighting for Transparency through legal means is a strength for democracy and indication of a respecter of the judiciary.
Contrary to the claims of the PDP, the APC’s legal actions regarding the local government elections and the sacked council officials are rooted in a commitment to upholding the rule of law and protecting the interests of the people of Osun State. The APC seeks a fair and transparent democratic process, unlike the PDP, which is attempting to manipulate the system through its control of the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC). It is ironic that the PDP, which preaches fairness, cannot follow legitimate legal challenges to ensure accountability in governance”
“The PDP’s Hypocrisy on Local Government Elections is questionable. Hon. Sunday Bisi accuses the APC of participating in and opposing the local government election process simultaneously. Whereas, the APC’s concerns merely stem from the questionable qualification of the handlers of OSSIEC under the PDP-led administration. While the APC has prepared for the elections in good faith, it will not hesitate to challenge irregularities or actions that impugn the integrity of the election. The PDP’s inconsistency in governance and their refusal to address these concerns exposed their lack of readiness to allow free, fair, and credible elections”

The APC urges the PDP to focus on fulfilling its mandate rather than engaging in inflammatory statements. The people of Osun State deserve leaders who prioritize their needs, not political theatrics. Instead of attacking the opposition, the PDP should address critical issues, such as
Improving the state’s education system, which is currently underfunded• Addressing the rising unemployment rate and creating job opportunities• Ensuring transparency in financial management and allocation of resources• Developing grassroots communities that have been neglected by the PDP government.
