Adeleke Vs Oyetola: Appeal Court Delivers Judgement Tomorrow

The court of appeal in Abuja will on Friday deliver judgement in an appeal by Ademola Adeleke seeking to affirm his election as Osun state governor.

During the March 13 hearing on the lawsuit’s submissions, the court had reserved judgment.

Adeleke is the appellant in the case with the filing number CA/AK/EPT/GOV/01/2023, and the first and second respondents are Gboyega Oyetola and the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Furthermore joined as the third and fourth respondents in the lawsuit are the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the PDP.

Recall that in a ruling issued on January 27, the Osun Governorship Petition Tribunal dismissed Adeleke and recognized Oyetola as the state’s legitimately elected governor.

Two of the three-member panel held that Oyetola was able to prove that there was over-voting in some of the polling units.

Adeleke had rejected the judgment, describing it as “a miscarriage of justice” and “an unfair interpretation against the will of majority of voters”.
