Rector’s Suspension: OSPOLY Alumni Sues For Peace, Uninterrupted Academic Activities

Following the suspension of Osun State Polytechnic Iree’s Rector, Dr. Tajudeen Odetayo, amidst allegations, that caused disruptions to academic activities in the institution, the Osun State Polytechnic Iree Alumni Association (OSPAA) has stepped forward to call for calmness and the continuation of academic activities.

Recall that ADULAWO NEWS had yesterday reported that the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) Iree Chapter previously held protests regarding the Rector’s suspension, leading to concerns among various stakeholders about the situation.

However, reacting to the development OSPAA in a press statement signed by the National President of the Association, Alhaji Yakub Akeem Adebayo, and the National Publicity Secretary, Adekunle Sikiru, urged everyone involved to remain calm and provide the state actors with the space to conduct a fair investigation.

The statement added that the OSPAA focus to maintain a positive image and promote the development of the institution by creating a conducive atmosphere for teaching and learning activities.

The OSPAA emphasized the need for Osun State Polytechnic Iree to retain its esteemed position among the committee of Polytechnics in Nigeria and ensure the high quality of the certificates it awards to its graduates.

The statement reads, “Processes involved in allegation, investigation and appointment are not strange in the civil/public Service, but due diligence must be taken to ensure fairness, equity, justice and tranquility.

“We commend Governor Ademola Adeleke led government for the listening ears displayed through the press release responding to the agitations of Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic (ASUP) Iree Chapter and other stakeholders in the institution.

“We urge the state government to ensure transparency, objectivity and due diligence in arriving at final decisions on the issues as promised in the press release.

“Also we’re appealing to the students to remain calm and focused on their studies, the Osun State Polytechnic Iree Alumni Association also called on all agitating Unions to remain calm and await the decision of the established authorities for appropriate actions and steps on the investigation of the matter and allow normal academic activities to continue without further delay in the interest of the students writing their first Semester Examinations.”
