Governor Adeleke Plans Special Food Marts

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has unveiled plans to establish special food marts across the state, where residents can purchase food items at controlled prices, as part of his administration’s efforts to alleviate the suffering of citizens amidst the current economic hardship and food inflation.

Speaking at the May Day rally in Osogbo, Governor Adeleke highlighted his administration’s commitment to workers’ and retirees’ welfare, noting that since taking office, his government has prioritized the regular payment of salaries and pensions, as well as the payment of salary arrears owed by previous administrations. He emphasized that this has brought a new lease of life to both active and retired workers in the state.

In addition, Governor Adeleke announced plans to distribute new vehicles to Permanent Secretaries to enhance their productivity, as part of his administration’s efforts to boost the morale of civil servants and improve the overall efficiency of the public service. He also revealed that his administration is working on releasing another round of bonds to retirees who left service under the Contributory Pension Scheme, to help cushion the biting effect of the present economy on them.

The Governor acknowledged the current national economic challenges, including the fuel scarcity and high food prices, and assured workers of his administration’s continuous support and harmonious relationship. He also mentioned that the state task force on petroleum products has deployed monitoring teams to ensure that fuel hoarding is stopped as supply increases, to address the current fuel scarcity. Furthermore, he noted that his administration is working tirelessly to address the issue of food inflation by supporting local farmers and ensuring the availability of food items at affordable prices.

The Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress in Osun State, Christopher Arapasopo, commended Governor Adeleke for his landmark achievements and support for workers, noting that his administration has brought a new era of hope and prosperity to the state.
