Army Commander, 17 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Katsina State, Brigadier General Ibikunle Ademola Ajose, has called for the review of the National Youths Service Scheme (NYSC) to ensure the proper integration of the youths.

Army Boss said deploying corps members to teach in the communities is no longer acceptable as it hardly harnesses their full potential and resources

According to him, ”The talents that are inherent in the NYSC scheme, as well as their full potentials, were supposed to be explored to their full benefits and realization of self-worth. We know that the scheme was established by Yakubu Gowon in 1976, but its policies, acts, and programs are long overdue for review to bring them in line with the present realities.”

The commander admonished corps members to shun the clamour for redeployment to other states for fear of insecurity insisting that Katsina is safe.

Katsina State NYSC Coordinator, Hajiya Aisha Mohammed, told the visitor that the camp is secure and that the corps members are well behaved

“There is adequate security in camp, and camp activities are going on well as planned. Corps members are in high spirits and the NYSC is alert to the task of providing for their welfare,” she said.
