On Tuesday morning, a Dana Airlines aircraft, registration number 5N BKI, skidded off the runway at the domestic wing of Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos. The incident occurred due to the wet surface of the runway caused by an early morning downpour in Lagos.

The aircraft, which flew in from Abuja with 83 passengers and flight crew members on board, was met with a swift response from the crew, who ensured the safe disembarkation of all passengers without injuries or incidents.

The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has deployed investigators to the site of the incident, and Dana Air has grounded the aircraft for further investigation. In a statement, Kingsley Ezenwa, Head of Corporate Communications at Dana Air, confirmed the incident and commended the crew for their professionalism in handling the situation.

The airline has reported the incident to the necessary safety agencies and is cooperating fully with the relevant authorities to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. Dana Air has reassured passengers that their safety remains the top priority.”
